What you should know
PowerPoint to PDF turns a presentation into a document for distribution: each slide becomes a page, readable on any device, without PowerPoint and with no risk of changes.
The conversion is done by LibreOffice on FileXvert's server, since browsers cannot reproduce a presentation. The file is sent to our server over an encrypted connection, after a notice shown before upload, converted in an isolated service with no Internet access, then deleted as soon as the result is returned.
Strengths
- One page per slide, layout, images and shapes included
- Opens anywhere, without PowerPoint or Keynote
- Easier to send and print than a presentation file
- File deleted from the server as soon as the PDF is returned
Limitations to know
- Animations, transitions and embedded videos do not carry over to a PDF
- Speaker notes are not included
- The file leaves your device for the duration of the conversion
- 25 MB maximum per file
When to use it
Convert to PDF to send slides after a meeting, upload them to a platform or print them. Keep the PPTX for presenting and editing.
Quality, size and compatibility
LibreOffice faithfully reproduces everyday slides: text, images, shapes and tables. Advanced effects (complex gradients, rare fonts, 3D objects) may differ slightly. Check the busiest slides.
Frequently asked questions
- Are animations kept?
- No: a PDF is a fixed document. Each slide appears in its final state, with all animations played.
- Why is the presentation sent to a server?
- Because browsers cannot reproduce a PowerPoint presentation. It is converted by LibreOffice on our server, then deleted immediately.
