What you should know
EPUB to PDF is for printing an ebook or reading it on a device that does not handle EPUB. The book's text is extracted chapter by chapter, in reading order, and then laid out on A4 pages.
This converts the text, not the design: the original images, styles and layout are not carried over. Books protected by DRM are encrypted and cannot be converted.
Strengths
- Reading order respected, chapter after chapter
- A PDF that reads and prints on any device
- Automatic A4 pagination, with nothing to configure
- The book is never uploaded to a server
Limitations to know
- The book's images and layout are not preserved
- Headings become plain text, without styling
- Non-Latin characters (Chinese, Arabic, emoji…) are removed
- DRM-protected books are refused
When to use it
Convert to print a novel, an essay or a mostly text-based guide, or to read it on a device without an EPUB app. For an illustrated book, a comic or a textbook with a complex layout, this is not the right tool.
Quality, size and compatibility
Text is set in 11-point Helvetica with generous line spacing and even margins: a plain layout made for continuous reading. Accented Latin letters and typographic punctuation are preserved.
Frequently asked questions
- Why is my book refused?
- It is probably DRM-protected: its content is encrypted, and FileXvert does not circumvent that protection. Only DRM-free EPUBs can be converted.
- Are the book's images included?
- No, only the text is converted. For a book where illustrations matter, an e-reader or an app that displays the EPUB as is will serve you better.
